Guest Lecture on “Importance of Biomechanics in Physiotherapy”

Sri Chamundeshwari College of Physiotherapy successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Importance of Biomechanics in Physiotherapy” on 1st August 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM in the MEU Hall. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing the knowledge of undergraduate physiotherapy students regarding the fundamental and clinical applications of biomechanics in physiotherapy practice.

The session commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. The programme was graced by the guest speaker, Dr. S. Jeya Kumar, who delivered an insightful and highly informative lecture on the significance of biomechanics in physiotherapy. He explained the principles of human movement, posture, joint mechanics, muscle function, gait analysis, and the application of biomechanical concepts in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and sports-related conditions. The lecture emphasized evidence-based clinical decision-making and highlighted how biomechanical knowledge enables physiotherapists to improve functional outcomes while preventing injuries.

The session included several practical examples and clinical case discussions, making complex biomechanical concepts easy to understand. Students actively participated throughout the lecture and interacted enthusiastically during the question-and-answer session. Dr. Jeya Kumar addressed their queries with clarity and encouraged students to develop strong analytical and clinical reasoning skills.

Following the lecture, the institution felicitated the guest speaker as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the management, dignitaries, guest speaker, faculty members, organizing committee, and students for their wholehearted support and participation.

The guest lecture provided students with valuable insights into biomechanics and its clinical applications in physiotherapy. Through interactive discussions, students enhanced their understanding of biomechanical principles, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based assessment and rehabilitation, while gaining motivation to apply these concepts in their future clinical practice and research.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from the faculty and students of Sri Chamundeshwari College of Physiotherapy.
